Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specific form of very light rhythmical massage that encourages the stimulation of the lymphatic system.

The role of the lymphatic system is vast and hugely important. The lymphatic system transports nutrients to cells and eliminates metabolic wastes, toxins and excess fluids from the body. MLD has a significant role with detoxifying the body and stimulating the vital immune defences. This is important with the busy lives we lead today and as our immune systems are continuously being challenged.

Congestion in the lymph system can result in:

•    Frequent colds
•    Persistent sinusitis, catarrh
•    Visible cellulite
•    Fluid retention e.g. puffy ankles, legs, eyes, bloating
•    Spotty skin

MLD can also help tone the skin and reduce puffiness around the eyes.

A series of treatments is recommended in conjunction with changes in diet, life style and most importantly with increasing the daily intake of water. Dehydration has a huge impact on the sluggishness of the lymphatic system.
